July 2008 Karen's Top Tip: Cross Training

Holidays are coming, six whole weeks to escape from school. Yipee!!!! However itŐs also a time where swimmers lose a lot of their fitness due to reduced training programmes. As you have seen, we have arranged some training for the summer, but there are ways in which you can stay fit and still benefit your swimming with out using the pool. Cross training is a term used when referring to one sport that can help you to perform well in another sport. Great sports to cross train for swimming are cycling, rowing, netball, basketball, tennis and cricket, so as your summer challenge lets see how many you can try!!!!
