Feb 2009 Karen's Top Tip: Goggle Chaos

Increasingly I find myself fixing and re-fixing goggles, which after many years fixing my own goggles, I don't have a problem with. However, looking at the state of some goggles I am starting to worry! One pair I repaired this week had three knots in the straps and whilst I'm for recycling is not a good way to go into race conditions. On Saturday one swimmer even turned up without goggles! When it comes to goggles I'm a proper Girl GuideÉ..be prepared! Have your pair and a back up, just in case. We have our own swim shop and you all know google and so goggles should not be an excuse. My note to swimmers is: 'take care of your equipmentÉespecially your goggles, they are the most important piece equipment you have so look after them'. Parents, I know it seems like you're always buying new goggles, especially with children who are particularly forgetful, but it would help if you could keep a check up on the state of goggles. If necessary, two old pairs can be merged to make old goggles last a little longer!
