April, May, June
Various Locations
What is the Southern Junior League?
The Southern Junior League is for ages 9, 10, 11 and 12 years, there are 3 galas each year which we will swim against a significant number of clubs in the league but not always all of them.
The winners of the Southern Junior League progress to a Southern Final and then to the National Final. The Southern Junior League and National Speedo League are the most important events of the year for the club’s reputation and the best team possible is selected.
When are the gala’s held?
The galas take place on 1 Saturday evening in months of April, May and June, with the finals being held at a later date. Refer to Dates for your Diary for more details.
Where are the Gala’s held?
Depending on which swimming club is hosting the gala will depend on location. Most galas tend to be held quite locally but if the distance is considerable then adequate transport will be provided.
How can I take part in the Southern Junior League?
The team is selected by the coach based on the swimmers who compete for the club. It is a good idea to try to achieve some swimming times for different events, in for example the time trials held regularly at Millfield or Millfield Prep. For further information please talk to Adam Spencer who manages the Southern Junior League teams.
What do I need to bring?
Goggles, Hat, Costume/Swim Wear, Water Bottle, WASM T-Shirt, Snacks.
Who will look after the swimmers?
At all times swimmers will be under the close supervision of team managers and the coach. Team managers will also ensure swimmers know where they need to be and when, with help from the Club Captains.
