The session therefore will be at 5.00-6.00pm at Millfield prep School for both the Skills academy and the SSS session.

Hi All,

Please find attached an invitation from our sister club Frome to a waterpolo taster session to be held at Frome Leisure centre. I am often asked about opportunties to try waterpolo and here is such an opportunity. If you are in the lengths session of the LTS and really don't want to swim competitively, this will be a good opportunity to have a go at another aquatic sport.

Cost: FREE!

Please take it and have a go. For those who wish not to try waterpolo on this date training will be as normal
(Shepton Lido 7-8pm).

If you have any questions please let me know

Many thanks - Karen

There were some fantastic results with 32 PBs 8 Top 3 finishes and 23 Top 8 Finishes. Medalists were, Helena Richman and club captains Sam Cumming and Nicola Yeates. Helena Richman took GOLD in the girls 50m Backstroke and silver in the 100m Backstroke. Sam Cumming took three silver medals in the 100 Br, 100 Fc and 50 fly and 2 bronze medals in the 50 Br and 50 Fc, Nic Yeates took bronze in the 200 Fc. Swimmers finishing in the Top 8 were Zia Maxwell, Sebastien Cumming and Thomas Hartnell.

With every competition swimers become more experienced in the sceince of competition and how they can improve for next time, all of which relates back to their training.

The meet was well received by swimmers and many are now looking forward to their next two meets, the final of the Southern Junior League in June and the Yeovil District Open Meet in July. For the club's results please click here and for full results please click here.

Southern Junior League

Please find attached the results (CLICK HERE) of the Southern Junior League and meet report. This was an excellent job well done by all those swimmers in attendance. Another 20 Peronal Best times also. Thank you to Lloyd and Spencer for co-ordinating the event. Remember the final round will be held on the 26th June. Watch out for the team sheet as we need our best team in attandance.

Many thanks and well done

Top Tip from Head Coach Karen Pinniger
This month I have two top tips. The first is to get on the website and check out last years July top tip (see if you can find it, tell me when you have, I want to know how quick you are!) This top tip is still relevant for July and August this year.

My second tip is about refuelling. This month I went on a course about fuelling performers and I would like to relay the key messages.
• Eat a balanced diet (carbohydrate/protein/fat). Your body needs this to provide all the elements a growing and athletic body requires. There is no miracle diet for swimming fast, just like there are no short cuts to an Olympic gold medal
• Eat your five a day. Lots of different colours, variety is key. Remember any of your five can be fresh, frozen, dried or tinned.
• Eat carbohydrates within 60 minutes of exercise as this prevents your muscles being used as a source of energy after training.
• Rehydrate well. I've noticed a lot of swimmers losing concentration this weekÉ..this is completely down to being dehydrated.
• Keep Smiling, this doesn't burn too many calories, but does make a nice environment for the team ;)

All of Karen's Top Tips can be found on the Top Tip page of the website.
